Welfare to Work Convention

Date: 20th-21st June 2005
Venue: International Convention Centre, Birmingham

Welfare to Work Convention was for anyone who is involved in welfare to work and workforce development. Through the convention delegates were able to learn about new, innovative projects with a chance for each of the organisations to network, learn and engage in new ideas and successes.

Business Seminar – Tools for Change: Promoting Good Practice

Date: 28th June 2005
Venue: Khidmat Centre

This 1/2 day seminar was aimed largely at employers to inform them how their organisation can benefit from a more diverse workforce. The aim of the event was to disseminate good employment practices from the B-EQUAL project as well as providing employers with the opportunity to find out about the practical toolkits available to them. A number of presentations were delivered with Binna Kandola as the keynote speaker, followed by three workshops.

Diversity – Why Bother?

Date: 14th July 2005
Venue: Bradford City Football Club

The event was designed to enable organisations to find out more about diversity and to see the best practice of other businesses already benefiting from a diverse workforce. The event was organised by the Bradford District Diversity Exchange in partnership with other local agencies.

Asian Disability Awareness Action in Bradford (ADAAB)



WOMEN: making it happen through diversity

Date: 19th September 2005
Venue: Pictureville, National Museum of Photography, Film and Television

The event examined national strategies/initiatives currently being undertaken to address gender equality in the workplace. The event showcased the over-riding national initiatives and how this links into the local initiatives. The drama formed the main part of the event highlighting some of the problems faced by women in accessing employment and the difficulties they face.

Women in Business are a proactive group of women whose objective is to encourage business growth and enterprise. The event was organised to provide a networking environment where there is an opportunity for the women to listen to good practice and share and exchange ideas.
